Hello, this is a long time problem that i try to solved. I have a GTX 970 with a i5-6600K
My system can only boot with the kernel parameter "Nomodeset". I want it to boot with the nvidia modeset.
So i followed the wiki, change my mkinitcpio.conf, changing my kernel parameter, blacklisting nouveau and i915... I tried everything but at boot i have the line : " [ 15.712284] nvidia-modeset: ERROR: GPU:0: Idling display engine timed out: 0x0000957d:0:0".
Here all the dmesg output : https://pastebin.com/uH4qG1q7
Thank you for reading me.

I heard it's because of version 387.12 of the drivers. It was supposedly different and working with 384.90.
You could try downgrading to the 384.90 versions of all nvidia packages. For the "nvidia" kernel module package, you'd switch to using "nvidia-dkms". The dkms package will make it so the module will get compiled on your machine and will work with any kernel. You also need to install the "...-headers" package for your kernel to make dkms work.

Search is your friend. It's already covered and fixed.

Sorry, i did do the research but i didn't find anything useful. I will be glad if you could send me a link of a topic resolving that problem. I don't want to be like "Please i want you to give me the solution without doing any research", i just have trouble to find the solution. Thank you and sorry for the inconveniant. I will try to dig into the nvidia dkms

A simple forum search for nvidia.modeset=1 turns up https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=230850

Okay, so the bug was supposedly fixed with the version 1.19.5-1 of xorg-server. But i still have the bug even though i updated the xorg-server version. Should i just use nvidia-drm.modeset=0 ?
