I installed Steam with the Flatpak and that is working.
But for somereason it doesn't see / find my xbox controller.
I tried installed the xboxdrv and the steamos_xpad driver but still nothing.
Also did chmod 666 on the /dev/uinput still nothing.
Does anyone have a suggestion?

Does it work using steam from the repos?
I couldn't get steam to work from the repositories.
It does work with moonlight though.

Did your gamepad work in native games/apps.
And what is it? Xbox, Xbox360, Xbox one(s) pad?
Connection: USB/WiFi/bluetooth?

Part of this is because flatpak sandboxes itself and denies most devices by default (there a list of the standard ones granted in the documentation. So, it's actually kind of expected that the joystick isn't passed by default (xbox controllers are enumerated usually as /dev/input/js0)
Per https://github.com/flatpak/flatpak/issues/696 and https://github.com/flatpak/flatpak/issues/696 the "hammer"
sudo flatpak override --device=all com.valvesoftware.SteamNow, this is *part* of the issue, as I could still not get it to work after this properly, but it's supposedly what you're *supposed to do* according to the github tickets.
There's another piece of the puzzle that I haven't quite figured out yet, and I have had steam installed by other means with the controller working so I know for a fact flatpak is the interfering party.

Maybe you should simply find out what's not working with steam from repositories ![]()
