Low Frame Buffer Resolution modes on GTX 970 with proprietary drivers

Anyone else experiencing this?  I'm using efi and Grub, and the highest supported frame buffer resolution for console is only 800x600x24 on a 2560x1440 display!!!

I just installed this arch a few days ago, and it's my first install using efi.  I recall the resolution of legacy bios/mbr was much higher with the proprietary drivers.

Is this because of the lack of fbdev driver from Nvidia?

hello pillgar,
do you think that nvidia's proprietary drivers have anything to do with the framebuffer ?

Re: Low Frame Buffer Resolution modes on GTX 970 with proprietary drivers

Well hwinfo --framebuffer shows a max resolution of 800x600x24, but EFI GOP drivers have a max resolution of 1280x800x32.  Both of which are very low resolutions with respect to my displays native resolution.  Though switching from the Nvidia "PROPRIETARY" drivers to nouveau greatly increased my framebuffer resolution.

So to answer your misleading question, yes.  I do think that nvidia's proprietary drivers have anything to do with the framebuffer.
