before updating was working fine

It does the same for me. Some videos pop up a message "No valid frames decoded before end of stream". Other video formats just bring up a black screen and don't play.

it's also broken tvheadend. Downgrading fixed it again.

Downgrade ffmpeg (1:3.4-1 => 1:3.3.4-1) solved the problem.

ffplay plays videos fine. Totem incompatibility with new ffmpeg version??

With Corebird also broke video play.
corebird-CRITICAL **: gstvideodecoder.c(1156): gst_video_decoder_sink_event_default (): /GstPlayBin:video/GstURIDecodeBin:uridecodebin0/GstDecodeBin:decodebin0/avdec_h264:avdec_h264-0: no valid frames found
Downgrading to 3.3.4 solves the problem.

You should file a bug report for ffmpeg then.
It's unlikely that the package maintainer will notice this thread.

Yesterday this bug was related to kodi and ffmpeg, now only kody.

Well, it isn't a bug with ffmpeg, it is a changed API with ffmpeg and a bug in consumers of ffmpeg that aren't compatible with newer versions of ffmpeg. We can easily add totem to the list of packages that need fixes for the latest ffmpeg.
