Re: mesa-git - latest videodrivers & issues

Linux boxARCH 4.11.12-1-ck-haswell

fbImageGlyphB is far from  a new symbol, but searching for it suggests this could be related to custom (like in a hardened kernel) kernel configs.
Can you try stock linux , linux-lts, and linux-hardened ?

Re: mesa-git - latest videodrivers & issues

Unable to load Divinity Original Sin since latest update, but I can't confirm 100% it's mesa. I upgraded wine-gaming-nine and D:OS crashes at "EoC App" the way it used to before the divos-hack patch. Anyone else have this issue with latest mesa and/or wine-gaming-nine?

Segfault error:

[29478.091615] EoCApp[2810]: segfault at 10 ip 00007fc868077845 sp 00007ffe74d7e360 error 4 in libOGLBinding.so[7fc86805b000+28000]

Edit: If you are wondering what divos-hack was, it was the only way for Linux players to play this game. A hack-around patch (https://gist.github.com/romanoaugusto88 … 497b0fa2de) that forced D:OS to think we had a different version of OpenGL. Perhaps that hack just broke finally.

[    13.910] (**) |   |-->Device "radeon"

Those lines indicate your system does have  X *.conf-file(s)  . Most likely locations are /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ or /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/ folder.
try temporarily removing the file(s) , does that help ?

Another approach would be to build xf86-video-ati-git yourself , but the PKGBUILD used by lordheavy doesn't allow viewing/downloading (probably a permission issue ) .
The AUR xf86-video-ati-git package lists a conflict with xorg-server that puzzles me , I doubt it's in good shape.

I thought i mentioned that the stock kernel, 4.12 behave in the same way

Re-reading showed you did, but as  a comment in the xorg log you posted. easy to overlook.

Re: mesa-git - latest videodrivers & issues

Disabling the following conf file:

Section "Device"
	Identifier	"radeon"
	Driver	"radeon"
	Option	"DRI3"
	Option	"AccelMethod"	"glamor"
	Option	"TearFree"
EndSection

Yields the same effect in regards to the radeon driver: undefined symbol: fbImageGlyphBlt
And it seems modsetting takes over, but there is a lot of tearing going on. (Just using plain Openbox.)

Re: mesa-git - latest videodrivers & issues

I have similar issue with amdgpu and probably intel ddx too (i didn't look much on intel side)
in xorg.log:

[ 6.469] (EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/amdgpu_drv.so: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/amdgpu_drv.so: undefined symbol: fbImageGlyphBlt

and xorg falback to modesetting

when i build xf86-video-amdgpu-git from aur it works

tommorow i will play with /etc/makepkg.conf smile

..edit
ok, it's makepkg.conf... i didn't update it.
so, -z,now in LDFLAGS and -fplt in CFLAGS are the cause.

Re: mesa-git - latest videodrivers & issues

All xf86-video-*-git packages in mesa-git repo are now rebuilt with hardened flags disabled (-z,now and -fno-plt).

Re: mesa-git - latest videodrivers & issues

In mesa-git repo you have the tizonia-openmax-il package in case you want to build and test experimental (not yet merged) See https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page= … a-EGLImage

Please note that the package isn't tested.

Re: mesa-git - latest videodrivers & issues

Would you please add linux-drm-tip-git package? I did it with help of eschwartz, but I forgot to improve some stuff. I might try to focus and do it today.

The reason to use it: Intel Linux Graphics's How to file a bug report recommends to reproduce the bug found there (and also many other things, like adding a boot option, etc).

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/linux-drm-tip-git/
https://github.com/timofonic/linux-drm-tip-git (pull requests welcome haha)

I yet fail to provide a good default config, it keeps me asking for kernel options hmm

Is this kernel branch useful for others too?

An AMD employee replied, but let's wait for Intel people to provide a more detailed reply...

bridgman;n974495 wrote:

At first glance it appears to be the Intel equivalent of our drm-next-4.14(-wip) tree but containing latest Intel bits rather than latest AMD bits. I'm not sure if it is the tree that is used in drm-next pull requests going to Dave though... so might leave the rest of the question for someone from Intel.

PS: When your machine builds the packages? Some stuff gets lots of activity, but I understand you might not have a compiling farm to build them each 2 hours big_smile

SDDM fails to start on mesa-git, I had to go back to mesa-git-95930.4b41361894-1-x86_64.

Re: mesa-git - latest videodrivers & issues

Mesa-git currently has a bug when building opencl parts, see https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103388

My AUR mesa-git package (since a few hours) includes the patch mentioned in the bugreport.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?

mesa-git packages from the repo have the patch already included.

Re: mesa-git - latest videodrivers & issues

since openbox & tint2 start fine, and xfce leans heavily on gtk it could have to do with toolkits.
Do xterm  itself and QT programs also crash ?
