ALSA buzzing

I'm getting a lot of crackles and stuff on small wave files (gaim IM blings).  I have decent speakers, and ALSA 1.0.3.  What on the mixer might be the problem?  I've fiddled with a lot of stuff!

You might have turned your mixers up too high.  Try turning them down...

If it's really bad then it's probably your sound driver isn't a very good one wink

this can happen if you use 2.6.-kernel and your cpu runs longterm on 100% for some big computing jobs .... i dont know why
