Error while installing Arch Linux on ASUS Chromebook C202SA-YS02

Hello,
I'd like to install Arch Linux on my recently purchased ASUS Chromebook C202SA-YS02.
First I installed the RW_LEGACY firmware using [https://mrchromebox.tech/#fwscript][this.]
I was able to boot and install then GalliumOS, everything was working as expected. But I really can't work with an Debian based system - I need Arch smile

But I get the following strange error message shown when trying to boot Arch Linux from a Live USB-stick:

[ 452.362477] unexpected IRQ trap at vector 77

The keyboard and mouse isn't working (except in the first screen where I can select to boot into the live medium or to run a memory test, then the keyboard is working as expected).

Re: Error while installing Arch Linux on ASUS Chromebook C202SA-YS02

I have the same model, and have the exact same problem. I do have some additional information though:

I had kept the 2017.08.01 arch install iso by chance, and that does not have this issue when used as a live stick, so the issue is something that happened between then and now. Of course it still installs a broken system because pacstrap downloads the current files. I tried some alternate kernels to see if that made a difference, and all the arch official kernel variants still refuse to take input after the bootloader, but the lts kernel does not give the above repeating message, instead giving:

[ 2.518712] genirq: Flags mismatch irq 182. 00002002 (ELAN0000:00) vs. 00000080 (i8042)
[ 2.518772] elan_i2c i2c-ELAN0000:00: cannot register irq=182
[ 2.818848] tpm tpm0: [Firmware Bug]: TPM interrupt not working, polling instead
[ 14.028837] atkbd serio0: Failed to enable keyboard on isa0060/serio0

The first two look like problems with the Elantech touchpad, the third is the TPM chip not working (which shouldn't matter), and the 4th is the keyboard failing.

I'm guessing we either need an extra driver or a kernel patch for this, but I'm not having much luck on where to start on those.

Ah, always good to hear that I'm not alone with an issue!
I already tried to reach out to the guys from GalliumOS over IRC -  apparently they managed to solve these issues - but only with the not so informative error message I had. I'll try again using your error messages, maybe then they remember what trick they did. The last time they just said, that everything should have been pushed to upstream to Kernel 4.12.

I'm having the same exact issue on a Samsung XE500c13 Chromebook. Earlier Arch releases do work though.
