GNOME's Night Light, which is like redshift except that it's also compatible with Wayland, doesn't work with wayland in the newest version of gnome-desktop, which is 3.26.1-1. It does still work when I run GNOME with xorg.
To make sure that gnome-desktop was the cause, I rolled back to the version I was using before, which was 3.24.2-1, and sure enough, Night Light worked when I ran GNOME with both wayland and xorg.
Is anyone else here having this problem?
I didn't see anything relevant in the upstream GNOME bug tracker here or here.

Same here, actually!
The new 3.26 in not working in night mode. Did you manage to fix it?
Seems that no error is notified, just nothing happens when turning on night light

Just tried turning it on and find it doesn't work for me either, on either my PC or my notebook, both of which use Intel modesetting graphics. I normally let it switch on automatically but can't say when it stopped working. As you say, no error message appears in the journal.

Night light works for me now. I'm running gnome-shell 3.26.1+9+g49c144a64-1 (I have no idea what's up with the extra stuff at the end of that version number.)
I have no idea what changed. AFAIK, I haven't deliberately done anything to fix it.

Well I am up to date as well, which means I am running that same gnome-shell version as you, but the night light switch does nothing.

Interesting. Doesn't work here either on my laptop with an Intel GPU (neither 3.26.1 nor 3.26.2). However, on my desktop with an NVidia 560 Ti (both 3.26.1 and 3.26.2 work fine).

The fun thing is that the top bar shows the night light icon on

I'll try to update asap, thanks. I had to downgrade temporarily for the gdm bug.
My laptop has an integrated Intel graphics and my desktop an ATI one, none of them works. The only strange thing I noticed is that there is no color profile in settings. I'm not 100 percent sure, but probably there was a color profile in 3.24 settings

Hi there,
just a brief update. I had finally time to install again Gnome Shell on my laptop and it turns out that Night Light works perfectly after a clean install.
Probably something went wrong while upgrading from 3.24 to 3.26.
I'll try to reinstall some packages on my desktop PC before reinstalling everything also on it.
Keep you updated,
cheers!

Guys, nothing to do... I had to install gnome shell again. I tried to add manually a color profile for my monitor, but I had no luck. Once reinstalled, it works like a charm.
Now the problem is with automatic night light, the colord daemon does not retrieve sunset/sunrise time from location. This is probably due to GeoClue service. I will open a new bug.
Best,
Mauro

Yesterday I noticed that "colormgr get-devices" was only showing my printer. I disabled CUPS, rebooted, and then my monitors showed up and the Night Light mode worked fine.
