[SOLVED] Norwegian Characters not displaying in terminal emulator

Good afternoon,

I am having a problem whereas Norwegian characters Å,å,Æ,æ,Ø,ø etc, are not showing in my terminal, but showing up as "'$'\370''" and similiar.

% ls Music/Sigurd\ Julius
'Dr'$'\370''mmesang.mp3' Sidensvans.mp3
 Fingeravtrykk.mp3 'S'$'\345'' kan vi bare h'$'\345''p.mp3'
'Flasketuten peke p'$'\345''.mp3' 'S'$'\345'' leng.mp3'
'Gi et lite pip.mp3' Soveromsvindu.mp3
'Gjennom en kam.mp3' 'S'$'\345'' som s'$'\345''.mp3'
'Korr djupt ska vi grav .mp3' ''$'\330''stavind.mp3'
 Lyg.mp3.mp3 'St'$'\370''dig p'$'\345'' et vis.mp3'
 Midtsommerkveld.mp3 'Tikka v'$'\346''r kj'$'\346''resten din.mp3'
 Pip.mp3.mp3 'Tynn som l'$'\370''v.mp3'
'P'$'\345'' vei.mp3' 'Ut der.mp3'

And strangely, because of this, MPD and NCMPCPP will not play or add these files to my list of available music.

I have added the norwegian locales to no avail.

% locale -a
bokmal
C
en_GB
en_GB.iso88591
en_GB.utf8
nb_NO
nb_NO.iso88591
nb_NO.utf8
no_NO
no_NO.ISO-8859-1
norwegian
POSIX

My Locale.conf is set to LANG=en_GB.utf-8 but even setting this to the Norwegian locale has no effect.

The font should support the letters, I am using DejaVu Sans Mono nerd font (for the font awesome glyphs), and this problem persists on all terminals, namely xterm, termite and urxvt.

Thanks for any support on this issue.

Turns out it was a problem with the characters in the file names specifically, not the terminals renaming the files fixed the issue. *facepalm*
