Hi there,
I've got the problem, that Gnome crashes since the last couple of updates. Loading Gnome in Wayland jumps back to GDM. Switching to Gnome under X.org results in a Gnome Background with a working mouse cursor, but the desktop doesn't load. These are the last updates I installed...

I solved the problem with a sledge hammer... I created a new user and voila, with that user everything worked as expected. So I emptied out my gnome configuriation...
$ cd ~
$ rm -rf .gnome .gnome2 .gconf .gconfd .metacity .cache .dbus .dmrc .mission-control .thumbnails ~/.config/dconf/user ~.compiz*...Everything is back to normal, but I have to reconfigure quite a lot of details. Looks like one of my gnome settings was screwed.

I think i have the exact same problem on two of my systems. The one at work probably started the same time as yours (maybe a day earlier) but i just changed to KDE because i needed to get stuff done and i couldn't figure out the problem. The same happens today after an update on my system at home – same symptoms as you described and the same journal warning entries but no crashes etc.
looks like this is related
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=230145
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=231158
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=232118
looks like the last thread is on the right track
https://github.com/EasyScreenCast/EasyS … issues/173 i also have this extension installed on both of my systems
indeed removing EasyScreenCase solved the Problem
