[SOLVED] No audio from headphone jack on W541 laptop

I can`t pinpoint an exact moment when the audio jack stopped working, but it was probably after some updates. I`ve tried numerous fixes found when googling, but nothing has helped so far. The HDMI audio is working, so are the build-in speakers, but not the audio jack, I see that once I plug in the headphones, the output device does change. Also, when restarting the laptop with headphones plugged in, there was sound in GDM when changing the output level, but it was gone once I had logged in, after a suspend, audio did not work in GDM either...

Any help will be appreciated!! I am not really sure what logs are necessary to give insight into my issue, but please let me know what output is needed and I will make sure to post it. Thank you!

Could someone please help me with this? I just noticed that there`s no sound from the built in speakers either... only after a restart on gdm, before login...

There have been some potentially breaking changes to the headphone jack detection in the 4.13 kernels, they should be fixed in the 4.14.3 kernel for the most part, is your system up to date? If it is and you can still reproduce, post 

amixer -c$cardindex, use aplay -l to figure out the correct card
pacmd list-cards
pacmd list-sinks
dmesg | grep hda

And please don't bump your threads if you don't get an answer, you might want to look into what further details you could provide.

I updated my system this morning, but the issue still persists. I can get sound after a restart in GDM before logging in, but after I`ve logged in, the sound is gone.
