encoding avi with transcode

I've come back to arch after a while with gentoo, I used to follow the guide on the gentoo forums on how to covert avi to dvd here http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php? … sc&start=0
However this won't work with arch, I get

[import_ffmpeg.so] No codec found for the FOURCC 'XVID'.
video import module error: OPEN failed
[transcode] critical: failed to open input source

Any help please?

Do you have xvidcore installed?

Re: encoding avi with transcode

Same problem here, I think that transcode or library is compiled without support for xvid. Try mencoder, ffmpeg or tovid instead.

Re: encoding avi with transcode

I ran into the same thing when I installed Transcode with pacman.

Then I compiled Transcode 1.0.2 from source with all other dependencies via pacman and transcode's running okay.

You should report a bug/support request

Re: encoding avi with transcode

Transcode 1.0.2-4 has fixed the above mentioned problem for me.
