No WiFi on on 4.14.X

Hi,

First time I'm posting here, so apologies in advance.

On my Asus UX37OU, after upgrading to 4.14.2, my wifi stopped working, I first downgraded to 4.14.1, but that didn't fix it.

dmesg said recent needed due to hardware issue

After I downgraded to 4.13.11 it WiFi was working again.

I used:

    # pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/linux-4.13.11-[TAB]

to downgrade and after that I restarted ofcourse.

Re: No WiFi on on 4.14.X

dmesg said recent needed due to hardware issue

This is neither English nor helpful.
You should check lspci, lsusb and dmesg on 4.13 and 4.14 to figure whether the device is detected at all and for actual error messages in the 4.14 dmesg.

Re: No WiFi on on 4.14.X

If those are the 4.13 outputs did you forget at least the 4.14 dmesg for comparison?

Re: No WiFi on on 4.14.X

Yes, I am reluctant to go back to 4.14, since there currently no longer any 4.13 tars in my pkgs folder.

Is there any way to ensuring that I can downgrade again?

Thanks

Re: No WiFi on on 4.14.X

Sure, but if this kills your internet access entirely, ensure to have the old packages available.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Do … g_packages

You'll likely be better off installing the lts kernel (in addition to 4.14) though, because it allows you do keep your system updated w/o doing partial updates.

w/o the 4.14 data, this is pointless.

Re: No WiFi on on 4.14.X

Ok, I installed linux-lts (4.9) to have something to downgrade to, then updated to 4.14.4 and it appears to work. Thanks for the help

Re: No WiFi on on 4.14.X

You mean you cannot reproduce the issue?
