Unable to reboot/powerdown - snd_hda_intel [SOLVED]

I've spent hours and hours trying to figure this out before I posted anything here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

This is a fresh install of Arch.

Problem: Anytime I try to reboot or powerdown, my PC hangs at the terminal with the following text in the terminal.

If you take a look at my dmesg output down below, you will see the last three lines from above posted every once in a while.

It's fairly evident that this is a audio driver issue, but the strange thing is that I have sound. I'm able to get sound from both my headphones and the built-in speakers from my monitor (using display port incase that may matter).

I believe the issue is from the nvidia driver. Before I installed it, I did not receive this error. Immediately after I installed the nvidia driver I received the message above after rebooting/powerdown.

Hangs when trying to modprobe i915. So this is an optimus system. How did you set it up/install the nvidia driver?

  1. Installed:

  3. Changed Modules in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf to

    MODULES="nvidia nvidia_modeset nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm"
  4. Added Modules to to boot config /boot/loader/entries/arch.conf

    options root=PARTUUID=bada2036-8785-4738-b7d4-2b03009d2fc1 rw nvidia-drm.modeset=1
  5. Added pacman hook to /etc/pacman.d/hooks/nvidia.hook

EDIT: I'm not sure if I'm an optimus system. I have 2 GTX-970s in SLI, however I'm only interested in using 1 GPU with Arch. I'm aware that linux doesn't exactly support SLI, but I'd like to keep both GPUs in my machine for windows. I actually wiped windows and currently only have arch installed, but I will eventually have Windows 7 in another HD.

"Optimus" doesn't relate to SLI, the critical aspect is that should be an intel VGA device as well.
If you don't intend to use it, try to disable it in BIOS settings. If not available, blacklisting the i915 driver might be an option to avoid this (but you should try that from the grub commandline first, esp. if you need o familiarize yourself with how to do this ;-)

That worked perfectly. I disabled my intergrated graphics card from my bios and it worked like a charm.
