As per the title, when I try to open users settings from inside the control center or from the status menu, it freezes and have to kill gnome-control-center manually.
Gnome version is 3.26 and everything else works, except for Cheese, it won't open and have to kil the proces manually in the same way.
Thought the camera was the problem (somehow) but it works in all other applications except for cheese.

Okay, now cheese works.
And can access users only after starting cheese, but when I close the window they freeze again and need tostart cheese again.

This is the same with me, strace spits:
epoll_ctl(29, EPOLL_CTL_ADD, 38, {EPOLLIN|EPOLLERR|EPOLLHUP, {u32=3497680240, u64=93870007934320}}) = 0
write(37, "\1\0\0\0\0\0\0\0", 8) = 8
futex(0x555fd0788d00, FUTEX_WAKE_PRIVATE, 1) = 1
futex(0x555fd0788d50, FUTEX_WAIT_PRIVATE, 0, NULL
and hangs
What a strange second run in the same session opens correctly

Same for me, if it hangs once and the process is killed next time the control center is opened it works perfectly.
Also tried on my desktop machine and the problem exists there as well and there is no camera connected to that pc. Will try to install an earlier version of the controlcenter and see if the proble persists.

The interesting thing COULD (no guarantee) be what FDs 37 and 38 (in the above strace, those may change in different runs!) are.

I have similar issue and also with Cheese its inconsistent, sometimes it comes on other times it hangs and needs to be killed to start another one.

Here, installing gnome-video-effects fix the freeze effect. But webcam is not detected :-/
