Making the kernel more generalized?

Hello. I was wondering if it is possible to make the future kernels a bit more general, codepages-wise. I have several FAT partitions which contain Hebrew filenames, and I had to recompile the 2.4.25 kernel myself in order to be able to view those. If these codepages can be compiled as modules in the next kernel release, I'll be more than greatful.

Yea, the next kernel release will have more codepages.  There's a feature request in the bugtracker already.
