Anyone out there that's gotten Arch to work with specifically the XPS9350-1340SLV, using Syslinux as the bootloader, AND using Legacy? I feel like I'm going around in circles with this system and particular configuration that I want to use. Unfortunately, I have this nagging feeling that I'm just missing some simple flag or bios option, and it's not as complicated as I'm making it out to be lol.
tl;dr:
Want to use Legacy, MBR, and Syslinux. Having issues getting that configuration up and running.
Just keep it simple.

Sorry, I know this is not helping, but I cant help asking: why?

With kernel 4.13.4-1-ARCH and no special boot options I'm now getting the black display flicker again. Is anyone experiencing the same?

4.13.5 fixes one major issue with IOMMU on this laptop (and many others).

Hey guys, I cannot see the bluetooth device in my freshly installed intel 8260, I guess I'm missing some firmware file, which one are you guys using?

I had the same problem as you, I used the sfi from the windows driver.
Here you have it: https://we.tl/Cz4Kh9f8Zk
Just decompress and place the 2 files into /lib/firmware/intel/ and do a hard reboot.

First why do you post a WeTransfer link? The windows drivers should be available on the manufacturers official homepage, right?
Second, the new firmware solved many problems with bluetooth for 8260. So no need to use the sfi from the windows driver, see:

Short question:
Is the airplane mode activated after you click the airplane mode key (Fn+PrtScr).
Here it's not working anymore (on a XPS13 9350 with Intel 8260).
My guess is that it stopped working after updating to Gnome 3.26.
Do you experience the same?

Works for me. I don't use any IDE, nor did I write any handling logic in /etc/acpi/handler.sh. I think it isn't IDE related and is handled by the firmware. What's your bios version?
Offline
I use the 1.6.1, but I also have the problem with the 1.5.1. (haven't tried earlier versions though).
The wireless switch option is turned on in the BIOS.
I guess it's not the BIOS, but related to the OS though...
I am not sure which module is needed here, but intel_hid and dell_wmi are loaded.
But to tell you the truth I am in the dark with this issue...
EDIT:
I just discovered that it works under gdm but not when I am logged in
UPDATE:
The last update of Gnome resolved the issue

hello,
I would like to apply the Thunderbolt 3 Firmware Update 4.26.11.001, A08 using the method explained
in Doing Thunderbolt firmware updates without fwupd or Windows (I havent got Windows and i dont know how to use the fwupd extension)
but:
sudo echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/PNP0C14:00/wmi_bus/wmi_bus-PNP0C14:00/*/force_power
bash: /sys/devices/platform/PNP0C14:00/wmi_bus/wmi_bus-PNP0C14:00/*/force_power: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type
sudo cat /sys/bus/thunderbolt/devices/0-0/nvm_version
cat: /sys/bus/thunderbolt/devices/0-0/nvm_version: Aucun fichier ou dossier de ce type
I try this with antegros livecd and with a debian installation (stretch + backports + kernel 4.18.4) and the result is the same.
(thunderbolt module is loaded)
Can someone explain me why the device does not apppear in /sys/bus/thunderbolt/devices/ ?
Thanks

You need the wmi and dell_wmi modules to be loaded for the first command to succeed. Alternatively, if you plug in a thunderbolt device (not just usb-c) that should wake up the controller (which is what that first command does) and the device should appear in /sys/bus/thunderbolt/

Does one of you guys have problem with the i915.enable_psr=1 boot option? Looks like it gives a random blank screen on boot since kernel 4.18.8.
Offline
Hello,
I haven't got such problem.
I'm on Debian 9 (stretch),
with some packages from backports (all firmwares, udev, mesa-va-drivers, systemd, rsyslog, systemd-sysv)
and a custom kernel compiled (4.18.12-amd64)
cat /etc/modprobe.d/i915.conf
options i915 enable_guc=3
options i915 enable_psr=1
options i915 enable_fbc=1
options i915 fastboot=1
options i915 enable_gvt=1

@Jucgshu
I don't see a blanks screen with i915.enable_psr enabled on boot with 4.18.12-arch1-1-ARCH and neither with earlier kernels.

How to setup keyboard backlight? It doesn't work.
I have verified it's not broken, dual boot to Ubuntu where it works out of the box.
The page says nothing about keyboard backlight: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dell_XPS_13_(9350)

Here it works out of the box when pressing F10. Do you see anything in the journalctl when pressing F10?

Thanks a million, indeed F10 toggles it on!
Never thought of that, since in Ubuntu it works automatically. Feeling stupid now

Having weird issues. I've lost sound (even though i can see the volume bar (I can't hear anything). I can't alt+tab. I can't multi-task, only 1 application can be active on the screen.
Here is my dmesg: https://privatebin.net/?2fb34b881778f7b … zeRWAWh2ei
Edit: Sorry about the necrobump. I wasn't paying attention

There's one other thing you didn't pay attention to. You are using Manjaro and we can't help you with that. Ask on the boards of the distribution you are using.

FWIW these symptoms sound like you misconfigured something in the X startup sequence.
Closing.
