[SOLVED] HDMI output plugged after boot show only frozen image of main

Hi everyone,

I am using a Dell XPS 9560 running Archlinux (with KDE Plasma) as my daily driver.
In terms of graphics, I only use the Intel graphics and have the NVidia card disabled (/proc/acpi/bbswitch is OFF).

I tend to have my laptop connected to an external screen in extended desktop mode (either through the HDMI output or an adapter / hub through the USB-C / Thunderbolt 3 port).
If I boot my laptop with the screen connected, everything works.

However if I disconnect the screen and plug it back in, I end up with the second screen showing the exact screen of the main laptop screen from the moment I plugged the cable. The external screen is kind of freezed on that image.
If I grab a window from the main screen and move it to the external screen with my mouse, I onlw see the mouse moving on the second screen. The window seem to be moved as well as I can see it disappearing progressively from the main screen and I can grab it back (through a keyboard shortcut) to the main screen.

It's like there is an overlay showed between where the normal extended desktop should be and the cursor that's 'frozen'.

If you have any idea or need more informations don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks.

Thanks seth, it works !

Do you know what is causing this issue ?

bugs.kde.org - I could only speculate but it sounds as if the GL viewport isn't updated after (maybe several) randr events.
