I recently installed archlinux on Asus swift 5. Everything is working fine except fingerprint reader. However, fprintd-enroll gives "list_devices failed: No devices available".
Here's my lsusb ouput:
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 1058:10a8 Western Digital Technologies, Inc. Elements Portable (WDBUZG)
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0bda:0411 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 04f3:0c03 Elan Microelectronics Corp.
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0bda:58e2 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 04ca:3016 Lite-On Technology Corp.
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0bda:5411 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
I am even not sure which one is the fingerprint sensor. Maybe it's not detected at all?
How do I get the fingerprint reader working on my laptop?

OK, now I am sure that Bus 001 Device 005: ID 04f3:0c03 Elan Microelectronics Corp. is the fingerprint reader.

I'm having the same problem on an Asus UX430UA. I have found fork of libfprint with e ELAN fingerprint driver here: https://github.com/sbechet/libfprint. I have not tested it yet, but at least some one is working on it. I will try with this and will post the results here.

there is a libfprint-elantech on AUR, I'll test it on my Acer Spin 5
EDIT: does not seem to be working.
