[FIXED] Action Lid Closed in Gnome is missing

Hi there,

I just reinstalled Arch on my notebook and now the "Action on lid" close is missing. E.g. I was used to the notebook going into suspend when the lid is closed.

Here's the output of

journalctl --unit=systemd-logind --follow

:

The closing action is detected so it _should_ work.

Any Idea?

Have a look at /etc/systemd/logind.conf. There's an option there which will change the action on lid close globally, uncomment and set it to "suspend", then run

systemctl restart systemd-logind.service

Just tried that. No difference even after a reboot. Maybe something is blocking the suspend? But should'nt that be in the Systemd log?

Not using gnome so this is just a wild guess but you might have to be in the wheel group to get this config offered?

Me neither, and I had no idea that such limitations may exist.

Definitely normal. From man logind.conf:

A different application may disable logind's handling of system power and
sleep keys and the lid switch by taking a low-level inhibitor lock
("handle-power-key", "handle-suspend-key", "handle-hibernate-key",
"handle-lid-switch"). This is most commonly used by graphical desktop
environments to take over suspend and hibernation handling, and to use their
own configuration mechanisms. If a low-level inhibitor lock is taken, logind
will not take any action when that key or switch is triggered and the
Handle*= settings are irrelevant.

Probably you'd just need to install their "gnome tweak tool" whatever and set the option from there.

Jup, that worked out, thank you! Never noticed that this is only located in the Tweak Tool.
