Microsoft have their very own:

By net I hope you don't mean internet, nfs is inherently insecure and should only be used in the most trusted of internal networks

I think i already tried this one, I tried one from microsoft but it doesn't install on XP home edition sad

Yes i mean internet but don't worry hosts.deny has all blocked, hosts.allow has my internal ip and his, no one else can gain access

Re: Free Window$ NFS client?

I spent hours looking for a client once, all the third party apps seem to want money, and Microsoft's SFU seemed buggy and unstable. Eventually I gave in and ran nfs for the linux clients and samba for the Windows ones.

And, as it is over the internet have you looked at WinSCP, it requires that the client has a ssh account on the host, the host doesn't need any software in addition to sshd. For linux clients, shfs or sshfs/fuse are nice.

Re: Free Window$ NFS client?

I just remembered, there are a few hacks knocking about that will allow you to install SFU on XP Home. There is one on hacks.oreilly.com that sounds familiar (I'll not post the link because applying such a hack may be against Microsofts Terms and Agreements of Use), though I can't remember if I tried it or not or whether it worked.

Another thing about remote-NFS: NFS won't work behind a NAT router, so you can only have a direct connection between those two boxes, otherwise it won't work. To make things easier and much more secure: make sure you use a VPN, a good example of a good, easy and secure VPN is OpenVPN, available as package on arch and as installer with a nice GUI for win32.

Re: Free Window$ NFS client?

JGC don't worry about non-fixed ports, I already fixed them and wherever i go, I ssh to my server, add my current IP, use NFS and before leaving I ssh again and remove ips, funny stuff, but I'm the only one enjoying it not my friend sad

anyway about VPN i can achieve it via my router too it's an IPCOP.

Re: Free Window$ NFS client?

might be one in cygwin, although I doubt how well it would integrate with windows.
