Nvidia driver blackscreen

I am on a macbook air from 2010, which has a geforce 320m igpu. After installing the nvidia-340xx driver, my computer displayed a blackscreen on boot, the advice I got was to use the kernel parameter "nomodeset", but this didn't stop the problem. Does anyone know how to fix this?

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

Re: Nvidia driver blackscreen

Sorry for the really late reply, the issue is that I don't use grub so I can't really make that solution work. the wiki says here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ma … 7,1#Nvidia that this can also be accomplished with a udev hook, but after some looking around I have not been able to figure out how to make a udev hook that can do what I need. Does anyone have experience with that?
