Hello and happy new year dear Archers.
I am posting here because I have some lack of functions with my new USB-C hub. Recently I bought a new Xiaomi Notebook Pro and an USB-C hub with USB3, ethernet, cards reader, HDMI and USB-C charger input.
The ethernet and USB are working well, the USB-C input for charging too, but the HDMI function of the hub doesn't work on Archlinux (I checked, it works out of the box in Windows 10). I will maybe use a second (with the HDMI output of the Notebook, working well) and a third display (with the HDMI output of the hub if possible). I searched on Google about the lsusb ids but I didn't find anything about this problem, I even couldn't find which id is the HDMI output. Do you have some clues ?
lsusb #without the hub, everything working well except the Elan fingerprint reader, but it is a known problem

the output will more likely appear in "xrandr" - did you google the hubs brand alongside linux compatibility?

No I couldn't because I didn't find the chipset used by this hub ... Yeah I know it is quite stupid
I will check the xrandr output this night with the hub plugged.

In my own experience, USB-C to HDMI is heavily adapter dependent, as there are multiple ways for it to work. The fact it works on windows is a good sign though, but it may be through a method which isn't implemented in Linux.

Yeah previously I bought a USB/VGA adaptater, I read it was very dependent of the chipset used for Linux utilisation, I suppose it is the same deal here.
Here is the output of xrandr, with and without the hub plugged (it is exactly the same) :

HDMI-2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) # Could be the HDMI output of my hub, but it is visible too without the hub plugged ?ERATUM : Ok it appears now in the Plasma Screen panel, just I had to check the "Enabled" box and it works ! I don't know why, maybe because I plugged the AC-in directly in the hub ?
Just, the max resolution of the screen isn't correct (1920x1080 instead of 1680x1050) but I observed the same problem if I plugged the HDMI directly with the Notebook. I changed it and it works fine.
Here is the xrandr output with the USB-C hub and the HDMI plugged on it.
