I have re-installed Arch over an existing Arch system, repurposing the same /home partition. In the fresh install, I created a user with the same username as a user from the old system, whose home directory was on the repurposed /home partition. This seems to have succeeded, in the sense that the new user has access to the old user's files, settings, and desktop configuration (which is what I intended). But I wonder: is there anything else I might have to do here, to make sure that this transition is completely seamless? Or is just creating a user with the same name all that's required?

The name is irrelevant, they just need to have the same user id and the same home directory.
Mod note: not an installation issue, moving to NC.
