Hello,
The problem I have is that my touchpad stops working after a while. I couldn't find a pattern where I can see why this problem happens. It seems to be random, the touchpad doesn't respond anymore.
` libinput debug-events` doesn't recevies anymore event from the touchpad at all.
A workaround I found to re-enable the touchpad, is to put the laptop in sleep mode, after that the touchpad starts working again for some time.

I had the same issue with a DELL laptop a while ago.
Solved it by downgrading to linux kernel 4.9. Probably it's a buggy driver but I really don't know.
Additionally you can try unloading the kernel module responsible for the touchpad (probably you might need to install xf86-input-synaptics):

I tried to run with kernel 4.9.77-1-lts but it doesn't solve the problem.

Isn't xf86-input-synaptics not supported anymore ? I thought libinput was the preferred lib to use nowadays.
Also, how can I identify which module responsible for my touchpad. I don't seems to be able to find it.

Some update.
I eventually found the module that I can use to reload the touchpad. It is `i2c_designware_platform` removing and re-adding this module makes the touchpad work again.
I didn't find any log about this module in dmesg though so I still can't really know what makes it not behave properly

Situation become wrost with time. Now the touchpad seems to stop working nearly directly after a fresh boot.
Also putting it in sleep doesn't unlock the touchpad anymore. Only a full reboot seems to work now.
It starts to feel like a hardware issue to me, but then I wonder how come that a reboot fix it for a small time ?
