Remove system beep

Hi,
i would like to stop system beep.
I have read https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PC … PC_Speaker
I blacklist pcspkr but this module doesn't exit
I also tried other thing
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ad … e_channels
To mute the beep channel BUT it did not work.
I m on Plasma desktop but i did not see options on it to block system beep.
Here is my lsmod

Re: Remove system beep

Please use code tags when posting to the boards, quote tags are an eyesore when reading through all your listed modules.

Also please define "system beep". Like when you power on your computer and the POST is run?

Re: Remove system beep

How do you cause the "system beep" to beep?

When I built my desktop, I just didn't bother to connect the "system beep" wire. wink

Hah smile

I've always found that to be the easiest solution as well.

No, it didn't "fix" anything. It just shifted the brokeness one space to the right. - jasonwryan

Hi,
it seems that now beep doesn't work on terminal BUT it works for application that uses WINE (it looks like System Bepp). For my work i have to use a windows application that works correctly with wine but i would like to block the sound for it.
Thanks

Re: Remove system beep

You can try muting the ALSA channel (if you are using ALSA and the channel is listed).

Already done it (written above). I muted the beep channel but for this application it still works ( but i can't know which channel is used by this windows application that uses wine).
Thanks

Re: Remove system beep

If the channel is muted at ALSA level, I don't think WINE or any Windows application can override it. Are you sure it's the system beep? Also, which application is that?

I did some tests. It seems that sound is cut now on my terminal. So i guess it looks like a beep system but it is not a beep system.
I will try to look how to block sound from application wine.
Thanks
