Intel graphics - flickering on both modesetting and xf86-video-intel
After upgrading to linux-4.14.15-1 I'm getting flickering and artifacts in Xorg. There was a mesa update at the same time, so I tried downgrading that first but I still had the same problem. I also tried removing my i915.conf temporarily to see if fbc was the issue. I tried both with and without the intel X driver and the issue persisted. Downgrading the kernel to 4.14.14-1 fixed it.
Does anyone else have this issue? I'm considering changing to linux-lts to avoid this, unless anyone has a solution.

EDIT: This is on a Sandy Bridge Thinkpad T420, running compton as a compositor under i3.

What you should do is report the problem upstream, kernel 4.14 will be an LTS release so most probably sooner rather than later you will have the same problem with kernel-lts.
