I'm using libnotify-id together with notify-osd-customizable. I have also tried using the standard notify-osd.
My problem is that with libnotify-id, I'm supposed to be able to replace existing notifications by using the ID returned like so.
saxony% notify-send test1 -p
11
saxony% notify-send test2 -r 11
The second command is meant to use the id returned by the first to immediately replace the notification. Obviously useful for some applications like volume control. If I increase the volume 10 times I want to see the progress immediately, not after 50 seconds!
I've tested other notification daemons like dunst and mate-notification-daemon and they seem to support this properly so the problem seems to lie with notify-osd (and notify-osd-customizable). I could switch to dunst, but honestly it looks pretty gross compared to notify-osd. May have to switch and deal with it as this is probably a bigger problem...
Anyway, anyone using notify-osd and has managed to make this notification replacement behaviour work properly?
