hwinfo --framebuffer does not show available resolutions in console

I'm trying to set console resolution on VirutalBox (v 5.2.6r120293) on Mac guest.

This topic in this forum suggests:

I installed hwinfo, but running

hwinfo --framebuffer

as root quickly shows:

> misc.2.1: io_
> misc.5: misc data_
... several other lines
>int.12: udev_

and nothing else.

Running

hwinfo --framebuffer --log log.txt

as root actually provides around 5000 lines of data, but no resolution info.

How do I check supported resolutions for console?
