Installed fberm from AUR, using wiki on VirutalBox v. 5.2.6r120293
When I run it, I get "Bus error (core dumped)". Any ideas?

One idea: actually describe the situation to us as if we're not sitting in front of your computer with you.
Is arch linux the host OS or guest, or both? Where is version 5.2.6r120293 of VirtualBox from? None of the packages in our repos nor AUR exactly match that.
What is the "it" that gives the core dump, virtual box or fbterm? What exact command(s) are you running? Where are you running those commands from: tty, xterm, etc?

Arch is guest, VirtualBox is on Mac OSX 10.9.5.
Running
VBoxManage -v
on Mac terminal produces 5.2.6r120293.
I run
fbterm
from Linux console.
The fbterm package is installed with
yaourt -S fbterm-git
from http://repo.archlinux.fr/$arch

That's funny, as it's not in that repo. You really should remove that broken repo from your pacman.conf and learn how the AUR works or you'll have no end of troubles. However, despite your confusion and complete ignorance on how that package got installed on your system, this actually isn't causing the present problem.
Please post the output of the following:
groups
stat /bin/fbterm

Well, true. I did not find it there too, albeit, after installing it. Will read up on AUR. Thanks. However, yaourt was installed with
sudo pacman -S yaourt
And then pacman.conf was edited with:
SigLevel = Never
Server = http://repo.archlinux.fr/$arch

No, I have similar hardware, and was researching the install. But did not want to jump in with the actual install onto machine, but decided to install on VirtualBox first, to test the process.
Come to think of it, I did not use anything from that article except yaourt setup.
