Was trying to install a graphical links, but you need to compile with directfb. Found an AUR package links-g-directfb. It has a dependency directfb which no longer exists. Found it in the archive and manually installed it and then everything worked just fine.
So, my question is... How do I find out why a package was removed/archived?
P.S. Added my workaround as a comment: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/links-g-directfb/

It was removed as part of https://lists.archlinux.org/pipermail/a … 29081.html but never dropped to the AUR, I guess because brtln did not consider it worth preserving.

Thank you. Well, at least it's in the archive

Well, it is also in the svn history, and the svntogit repository as well if you know how to look: https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/comm … 2be3709fdf
So feel free to add the package yourself using that PKGBUILD.
