Acestream Player codec error [SOLVED]

Hi,

First of all, I have already read this post.
When playing a video with acestreamplayer, gives me:

[0x7f3ec0c04f68] main demux error: corrupt module: /usr/lib/acestreamplayer/plugins/demux/libmkv_plugin.so
[0x7f3ec0c92dd8] main decoder error: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `h264'. VLC probably does not support this sound or video format.
[0x7f3eb40045c8] mpgatofixed32 audio converter error: libmad error: bad main_data_begin pointer

and a window with:

No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format "h264".
Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this

No image, no sound. More specifically, this shows when I try to watch a video using h264 codec. The file was in my hard drive, so I tried with vlc and it's working flawlessly. acestreamplayer has been working for a long time but, I don't know how, one day I tried it and got this error.

On the other post, he solved it installing libvpx-1.3. The page does not exist right now. I don't know if this package is the same as libvpx1.3, which I installed with no luck. I also have libx264 installed.

I just read it, however I also had installed the mentioned libvpx-1.5, so this didn't make any change...(I suppose you mean to focus on the libvpx comments)

My friend has the same problem. I tried to reinstall all possible libvpx packages. It hasn't help.
What to do?

Well, if you find it useful, I recently reinstalled acestream-engine and acestream-player packages, and now it's working(I don't know why)...

P.S. I solved the problem with installing  acestream-launcher and modifying /usr/share/applications/acestreamplayer.desktop

Wow, that's great! I got it working with your post information.

When you edit

/opt/acestream/start-engine

You're launching acestreamengine with gtk, which does not make a difference for me, so I would not include it as the solution. However, installing

acestream-launcher

was the key. Even so, when you edit

/usr/share/applications/acestreamplayer.desktop

does anything for me, it seems to be usefull if you are launching it from some icon on the desktop somehow, or something like that. As I'm launching acestreamplayer from the terminal, what I do is executing the same you mention.
So, to summarize, the solution for me was:

  • Install acestream-launcher

  • Launch acestreamengine --client-console(as always)

  • Launch acestreamplayer with acestream-launcher -e /usr/bin/acestreamengine --player vlc URL where URL is the acestream URL

It seems that instead of launching acestreamplayer, VLC it's replacing it, and that's why it's working.
