Android (mtp) causes my linux to launch login screen.

When I try to transfer files (mtp) to my computer from my phone linux logs out and I must type in my password. But instead of launching the desktop I am back to login again. I can retype my password forever and this just loops. But if I set my phone to charge mode I am able to log in again. If I then switch to mtp mode I am kicked out from my linux session again.
Any Ideas of whats causing this or where to look for errors?

Arch, gnome and htc u11+.
Edit: Tried with my old one x and its the same issue.
Edit 2: Tried to login to my gmail (google drive) via nautilus and its the same even there.
Edit3: "Solved" the issue by installing plasma and sddm.
          Tried to start gnome with xorg just in case wayland was the reason to this problem, but it was not.

Still don't know whats causing this though. Can't find anything useful in the logs either.

I am having this same problem for a few weeks now. if I switch my android to MTP the sreen flashes and drops me back to login. I can login but if i press MTP the same things happens again. I have gone through the wiki for MTP and tried installing each option to no avail. This first started after uninstalling owncloud I believe.

Let me guess, you're both on Gnome? There was issues with the places plugin that should be fixed now.

I am on gnome, but, I am depending on my phone as a hot spot and system update is showing uptodate.

The issue with the places plugin was in gjs. There's other known issues with gjs.

In the future, it might be helpful to mention gnome when the problem is gnome crashing.
