Video fullscreen flickering

ciao,
in some programs (mpv, vice) video fullscreen is flickering and blinking:

i use openbox without DE, but the problem also occurs with other WM and DE (fluxbox, xfwm4, twm, LXDE), except with marco (metacity), with it the fullscreen works perfectly. why?
