Anyway, just disabling C6 does not do it for me, I still get some random lockups, unfortunately.

Forgot to ask, what is your motherboard and BIOS/UEFI and/or AGESA version?

Asrock X370 Taichi with 3.2 BIOS/UEFI and 1.0.0.6b AGESA.

If you fall into the segfault bug category, I'd RMA the processor if I were you and see if things clear up after that.  If you don't want to do that, you might try bumping SOC and Core voltages a bit and seeing if that helps, and / or dropping RAM speed down too.  These things are free to try.  Even if they aren't a good permanent solution, it might help you narrow down the cause.

Re: Unexpected reboot, hardware errors (Ryzen cpu)

Well this is frustrating... So I RMA'ed and I just got my new processor back. Just a few hours after booting, my screen completely freezes............

After rebooting: from `journalctl -b`, this is what is marked in red:

Feb 22 22:02:49 nadir kernel: sd 9:0:0:0: [sdc] No Caching mode page found
Feb 22 22:02:49 nadir kernel: sd 9:0:0:0: [sdc] Assuming drive cache: write through
...
Feb 22 22:02:49 nadir kernel: sp5100_tco: I/O address 0x0cd6 already in use
...
Feb 22 22:02:49 nadir kernel: kvm: disabled by bios
...
Feb 22 22:02:49 nadir systemd-udevd[332]: Process '/usr/bin/alsactl restore 0' failed with exit code 99.
Feb 22 22:02:49 nadir systemd-udevd[328]: could not read from '/sys/module/amd64_edac_mod/initstate': No such device
...
Feb 22 22:02:54 nadir kernel: kfd kfd: DID 6819 is missing in supported_devices
Feb 22 22:02:54 nadir kernel: kfd kfd: kgd2kfd_probe failed

I sure hope this is not due to the processor. Well that would be very unlikely as I just got a new one. Any ideas?

Edit: btw, `journalctl --since "60 min ago"` showed nothing interesting (it is definitely within that time frame that the freeze happened)

Re: Unexpected reboot, hardware errors (Ryzen cpu)

Hi,

I'm also still struggling with an unstable Ryzen system and I'm already using a RMA'd one. I've got the impression my BIOS is bad at configuring the RAM correctly. The BIOS seems to default to overclocking my 64GB RAM setup. The AMD memory reference code seems quite bad judging from all those AGESA updates. So you maybe want to research if your RAM settings are making sense and you shouldn't trust BIOS defaults.

Quick example of bad BIOS quality:
