Note that Arch Linux most certainly includes /usr/local/bin in the default PATH (this is set HERE), and recommends it (like all other distros do I think) for software which is not installed via the package manager.

I'm glad to hear that was corrected, I always found that oversight slightly odd in the past, I'll also update all my docs to reflect this updated status. Fixed post to reflect that.
