[solved] Redshift transition makes the screen blink

Hi,

I have installed redshift to adjust the brightness and color of my screen (I dunno if it is just placebo effect or whatnot, but I find it has an effect on the quality on my sleep).
Anyway, I used it in the past, and everything was fine. However, on this computer, I have the screen that blink back to normal at every refresh rate. To be clearer, that means that whenever it refreshes the color goes very quickly from redish to normal blueish to redish again. And it repeats every 5 min or so.
I've tried with the smooth transition mode or the normal one. I have tried with several backend (including randr). It changes nothing...

My video card is an AMD Radeon R8 M445DX in case it is a useful information.
Parts of lspci -v that might be of interest:

        !!! Unknown header type 7f
        Kernel driver in use: amdgpu
        Kernel modules: amdgpu

....

I wonder why there is the "Unknown header type" though....

And sometimes, my external screen plugged in HDMI just goes black for a second or two sometimes. I don't know why...

Cheers.

This has been reported upstream but no solution so far...

put 'amdgpu.dc=0' to your kernel line. Those people claiming to use "1" as a value seem to forget that "1" is the new default option since kernel 4.15 (which coincidentally matches the time in which this issue appeared)

He hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. Then he realized there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife.

Re: [solved] Redshift transition makes the screen blink

Hi,

Sorry, I was out for a while.
Indeed, the issue has been corrected with a kernel update, as been said by the github thread.

Thanks!
