Loud pops and static after inactivity (AUX)

Essentially, I've plugged an external speaker via AUX to a "Dell Inspiron 5758". After a couple of seconds of sound inactivity, a very very loud pop is produced from the external speakers and is followed by what sounds like a static tone (not white noise) unconditionally.

Everything runs perfectly fine when sound is being played, it's only after everything goes quiet it happens. Once I start playing sound again everything is fine, after a couple of seconds silence, it happens again.

I'm worried that it'll either damage the speakers or give me a heart attack.
I'm not sure if this has already been posted (in which case, my apologies), I read the first 10 pages checking and found nothing. I have no idea where to start.

Also, whenever I am not using my sound card by any application, I have a constant crackling noise that goes off as soon as I am starting to play some sound.... If you have any solution for that, it would be great....

Putting

options snd-hda-intel power_save=0

in /etc/modprobe.d/sound_power.conf works for me.

I need more patience clearly. This seems to be working.
