XFCE error: "Virtual heigth (0) is too small

...Dear all,

I have installed arch 0.6 (ISO not base), but when I tried to launch XFCE (startX, startxfce,...etc.) the following error message occurs and stop me the desktop manager:

(EE) Virtual hight (0) is too small for the hardware.....
(EE) Screen found, but not......

Please, can you help me.

Thanks for this very nice distro.

Ciao.

Re: XFCE error: "Virtual heigth (0) is too small

thanks.

Yes, it's a X error.  When I launch XF86Config, I set "tnt riva" as card and I set 16 Mb of memory card.
The kernel is 2.6.3.

I think that I have done a mistake with the video card definition when I changed the XF86Config.

Ciao.

Can you post the Screen section of your XF86Config?

Re: XFCE error: "Virtual heigth (0) is too small

Yes, but I can't post today because this problem is in my home computer and at home I don't have any internet connection.

I will post all tomorrow in the afternoon.

The next week I will install arch 0.6 also in my notebook at office.
I think that all will go fine.

Ciao and thanks.

Re: XFCE error: "Virtual heigth (0) is too small

I had the same error/problem, it had to do with the color depth being too high. I could run any resolution, but only in 8-bit color. As soon as I installed the proper driver for the gfx-card, I could run in any color depth.

Re: XFCE error: "Virtual heigth (0) is too small

OK.

Excuse for the delay.
I am solved the problem.  The problem is the video card set-up.  After I have installed this well (RIVA TNT2) screen works fine.

I have another problem: I have the mouse only in USB port.  Where I can find the device?  /dev/tty00 doesn't exixt.

Another stupid question:  under bash which are the commands to delete a file, to copy a file in other directory and so...?

Thanks.
