[SOLVED] i3 won't load properly

I just installed Arch, dual booting with Windows 10 on an Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition, and managed to get all the way to installing X, which works fine when I run it, but then when I install i3 I get a peculiar result. All of the graphical parts have been turned into coloured underscores with flicks and most of the screen is black aside from a window outline on the desktop (complete with coloured underscore title bar) and a mangled Start button looking thing in the bottom left. Am I missing a dependency, is it my graphics drivers, or is it just me?

Nothing happens when I run that, does that mean I don't have any fonts installed?

Yup, pick one:

You should probably ensure it includes a monospace variant.

It worked! I've never had a font issue before on Linux so this had me completely stumped. Thank you very much!
