Hi,
when doing some CPU intensive stuff (e.g. compiling a kernel) I see error messages like this in the dmesg log:
[ 588.051568] CPU0: Core temperature above threshold, cpu clock throttled (total events = 1)
[ 588.051569] CPU4: Core temperature above threshold, cpu clock throttled (total events = 1)
[ 588.051571] CPU1: Package temperature above threshold, cpu clock throttled (total events = 1)
[ 588.051572] CPU5: Package temperature above threshold, cpu clock throttled (total events = 1)
[ 588.051573] CPU7: Package temperature above threshold, cpu clock throttled (total events = 1)

[ 588.051586] CPU0: Package temperature above threshold, cpu clock throttled (total events = 1)
[ 588.052577] CPU4: Core temperature/speed normal
[ 588.052577] CPU0: Core temperature/speed normal
[ 588.052578] CPU1: Package temperature/speed normal

[ 588.052580] CPU5: Package temperature/speed normal
[ 588.052581] CPU2: Package temperature/speed normal
[ 588.052582] CPU6: Package temperature/speed normal
[ 588.052583] CPU3: Package temperature/speed normal
[ 588.052583] CPU0: Package temperature/speed normal
[ 588.052585] CPU4: Package temperature/speed normalHas somebody an idea whats wrong? As far as I know these MCE errors should only occur in extreme situations...
The CPU temps are around 70 degrees Celsius when the throttling kicks in.
Thanks!

Update: This bug not only affects the X1C6 but all new Thinkpads (T480s, etc.).
The issue is described in this reddit post by a user named erpalma_: https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comme … tling_bug/ and https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comme … dpthermal/
It seems like this issue only can fixed by Lenovo, so there is a post in the official forum: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Linux-Disc … -p/4028489
I hope more people join the discussion so Lenovo will release a fix.

There is a nice script to fix here: https://github.com/erpalma/lenovo-throttling-fix
I packaged it and will upload to AUR soon.
