[SOLVED] Custom titles

I have seen many titles under forum members' usernames, and I wonder if they are all custom. For example, I have seen someone's say "Taco Eater". Are these all preprogrammed, or can you get your own custom title? If you can get your own custom title, how do you?

For example, my "title" is "Member".

Re: [SOLVED] Custom titles

You cannot set your own.  A vast majority of the titles are simply a role on the forums or in the community (e.g., member, moderator, admin, trusted user, developer, and bug wrangler).  Then there is Forum Fellow for those of us who were formerly in a forum role.

On rare occasions a community member earns a reputation for something else and is given their own title (e.g., Schwag Merchant, Archivst).  And also on rather rare occasion senior members of the community can be given whacky titles like taco eater, anarchist, or daddy.

There's one custom title that anyone except Allan can get: "Banned"

How do you get "banned", and who is Allan?

Hang around the forum enough and you'll soon learn the answer to both wink

So is Inspector Parrot in honor of having been banned several times ... Once I'm pretty sure was by Allan?

I love the title big_smile, and no, it's not because of being banned.

PS: By the way, the timing of this thread couldn't have been more fitting tongue

Getting banned by or because of Allan is a right of passage on these boards.

As for Inspector Parrot, a motion was made, seconded and carried by the momentum of silliness. As an added bonus, it provided a perfect illustration for this thread. Win-win all around.
