Help to patch the kernel

Hello
I need to apply a patch to the kernel, I have already checked ArchWiki and found two methods of kernel compilation (using Arch Build System and Traditional compilation) but I did not find info about patching the kernel ,I mean in which step and how exactly to apply the patch ,
I am new to that topic I mean I have no idea how that works or even the file I have is patch or do I need to create the patch from the (x.diff) file , I have been googling two days with no luck to find the info I need ,so please any info or steps how to patch it?
any help is appreciated and thanks in advanced.
