First install of ArchLinux and...

...I'm really impressed. Being a gentoo enthusiast for more than 3 years, I never thought that another distribution could satisfy me. If you are interested in my first experience with Arch Linux on my Thinkpad, please continue reading at my blog. I think the text is too long for being posted here smile

Re: First install of ArchLinux and...

Just a tip regarding the outdated madwifi package... You can flag stuff out of date on the Arch Linux website via the "flag package out of date" link on each package's info page.

Edit: also, prelink didn't work very well on Arch last I checked, due to the way things are compiled. Not sure if that's changed.

BTW, we have Xorg 7.1 PKGBUILDS if you want to use AIGLX on Arch as well as Gentoo. 8)

Re: First install of ArchLinux and...

Thanks for the advice, I flagged the package. Regarding aiglx, is there an aiglx compatible compiz PKGBUILD? Do you know something about integrating DT_GNU_HASH in Arch?

Re: First install of ArchLinux and...

Here are the first things I'm missing:

- Modular KDE (holy crap...kde is really big if you have to install all programs)
- Some security related stuff: webscarab, nikto, httping
- moodin's kde splash engine
- kdmtheme

Nothing too important, but I was used to get them on gentoo smile

You can add it in pacman.conf yes - you'll find the repo location in the thread.
