I was looking around on the ratpoison website the other day, when I came across Conkeror. Conkeror is a plugin for firefox that gives it an Emacs type keybindings. It is the best thing ever.
Does anyone else use this?

Funny that you ask... I don't use EMACS, but I use vim.
So yesterday I went out and looked for some firefox plugins that let me use j/k...
I found mozless... Dunno if that's the best available one... At least I don't have to hack in the userChrome files or something.
But now I'm looking for something like numbered links, to really be able to surf without using the mouse.
Anyone an idea about an extension that supports numbered links? (ff 1.5)
Edit: I should have read the conkerer website, it links to Hint-a-Hint. :-)

Yep all in Conkeror.
Does that mean mozless doesn't support numbered links?
edit: A vim approach would be super sweet.

This is what I use:

As do I.
You can enable Vi bindings if you really want them. M-x use-vi-keys RET
I haven't tried it out yet.

I think this is pretty cool, but now I have to deal with hearing about Konqueror, Conkeror, Conky and Konqi (KDE mascot dragon)... bahhhh! Confusing! :?

Somewhere around you can find docs to use opera only through keyboard.
Conkeror is delicious... I only wait for an equivalent of "save target as" and for a better gmail support.

I love the idea, but Conkeror doesn't really work like I wish it did. It's tantalizingly close to Emacs, but it's just not the same. I wonder if it's possible to put Gecko into Emacs... everything else is in there.
I've actually found Firefox's keyboard support to be pretty good, although selecting links can be hairy. The best solution I've found is to turn on "Begin finding when you begin typing" and use that to select links. Hah looks interesting.
EDIT: As I recall, Conkeror breaks Adblock, which is what really killed it for me.

you can look up the key bindings in the chrome files. you have to go to your firefox profile (for me it's ~/.mozilla/firefox/fh0s6ju9.default/) then enter the right extensions directory. just look at the install.rdf files inside the directory. they contain information about the extensions - for me it's extensions/{a79fe89b-6662-4ff4-8e88-09950ad4dfde}. then enter chrome/ and unzip the conkeror.jar file.
inside the new directory there is a file content/bindings.js there you can look up all key bindings.

What do you miss exactly, in conkeror? It is becoming my primary browser, everything is faster than with the rodent, and all the functions I need are implemented: obviously there many firefox features I do not need, this I am curious about what you miss

Primarily, I miss Adblock. I also miss tabs, which I'm pretty used to. Invisible buffers might be as good, but I think I found them a little difficult to work with in Conkeror. I also didn't much like selecting links by typing numbers, which is just a personal preference thing. Ideally, I'd make type as you find search from the top of the screen down, finding only links rather than all text, and looking at buttons and image links (maybe from their alt text) too. That way would be more to my liking.

News: Conkeror is now independent - it's no longer just a Firefox extension !
Check at http://conkeror.mozdev.org/index.php
Unfortunately it depends on xulrunner 1.9....
