I wanna switch from gdm to lightdm, so I installed lightdm, following the steps as ArchWiki says like this:
sudo pacman -S lightdm lightdm-gtk-greeter
sudo systemctl disable gdm
sudo systemctl enable lightdm
After that I configured 'greeter-session=lightdm-gtk-greeter' in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf. I rebooted, but lightdm won't appear as expected. It ends up showing a black screen.
I switched to another tty and run 'sudo systemctl status lightdm', then the following shows:
● lightdm.service - Light Display Manager

I have to run 'sudo systemctl stop lightdm; sudo system start gdm' to start gdm and log into xfce4. I removed lightdm and lightdm-gtk-greeter, reinstalled them and reconfigured everything, but it didn't work too.
I have no idea how to fix this. I switched my DE from gnome to xfce4 some days ago and am still using gdm. Thanks a lot for helping me!

Thanks. I tried it, but sadly it did not work. The same problem appears.
