Hello,
I have bought USB 3.1 Type-C to HDMI HD Adapter from:
http://www.dx.com/p/usb-3-1-type-c-to-h … Im5cJ-a9hE
I have a Tuxdeo Laptop (Clevo) with:
01:00.0 USB controller: ASMedia Technology Inc. ASM1142 USB 3.1 Host Controller
I have archlinux up to date:
Linux sluga 4.8.13-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Dec 9 07:24:34 CET 2016 x86_64 GNU/Linux
My problem:
It doesn't work
I have tried to find the cause going the classic way.
lspci -> shows up the controller
lsusb -> there isn't anything about the USB 3.1
dmesg -> nothing at all (off what i understand)
So i have searched for the controller driver and all i could find is that it is supported by the kernel since 4.6? Although no files to download.
Support various Linux Kernels.
I tested the converter on Windows 10 and it works!

I know a lot of time has passed. I bought another device that is a USB Type-C to VGA and this won't work either.
I found this post https://askubuntu.com/questions/714169/ … s-on-15-10 and
tail -f /var/log/kern.log
command doesn't print anything when i connect or disconnect the device so i guess it is the driver problem.
