Re: new Blender! :)

You can flag packages out-of-date using the "Flag package out of date" link on their info pages.

(FWIW, blender has already been flagged OoD.)

A whole lot of things. See there.

Basically, this version has all the new features and fixes they needed to make Elephants Dream.

Every Blender major release is huge. That program is evolving at incredible speeds.

Is this even a major release? 2.41 to 2.42? They're truly amazing.

Nope. But it is self contained in its own directory. For now you can just un-pack it and run it from where it is. Just make sure you have the correct Python version.

Re: new Blender! :)

From my experience, when the blender package has been flagged, it's usually been between 1-2 weeks before it's updated.

Re: new Blender! :)

I wouldn't be surprised if that's due in part to compile times.

what does ubuntu have to do with this? Ubuntu, being a debian derivative is i386 with no i686 optimizations.

That's the point. It used to be a joke before it never became funny.
