Hi,
I have a Zotac ZBOX nano ID62 which has a builtin Nuvoton w836x7hg Infrared Remote Transceiver.
Starting with Kernel 4.16 the infrared remote has stopped working. Using "ir-keytable -t" does not produce any result when pressing keys on the IR remote. On 4.15.x kernels the same command works as expected. I have specifically tested it with 4.15.15-1 and 4.16.1-1 kernels, so it is a regression from 4.15 to 4.16. I have compared the kernel source between those versions and indeed there was some refactoring in exactly this area.
Can anyone confirm this? And where do I file a bug report about this?

i can confirm this. i have the same IR receiver Nuvoton w836x7hg on my Intel Nuc. after upgrading to kernel 4.16 it stopped working. on kernel 4.15 it works just fine. some guys from gentoo mentioned same problem

curly060 did u send a bug report?

I have run into the same problem with my Asrock Media box.
Meanwhile there seems to be an open Kernel Bug:

The bug report contains a series of patches you could try. I would then suggest reporting the issue to linux-media@vger.kernel.org as per
perl scripts/get_maintainer.pl drivers/media/rc/nuvoton-cir.c

Sorry for the late response. Yes, I sent a bug report (ash ThomasG has already mentioned):
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=199597
I have tried the series of patches and they indeed fix the problem for me.

The patches are not included in 4.17-rc7 so you will need to keep patching the kernels for a while.

The author of the patch series has already done that and there has already been a discussion about it:
https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-med … 34773.html
So with some luck it will be fixed in 4.17 kernel. as loqs mentioned: not in 4.17-rc7

Just found https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-med … 35159.html mentions a pull request and there is at least until Sunday before 4.17 is released so Linus could still pull it.
