[SOLVED]How can I make sure that a USB audio external DAC work ?

Hi,

I would like to buy this headset https://steelseries.com/gaming-headsets … ro-gamedac
There is an USB external DAC and I can't find any information regarding its support on Linux.

I contacted SteelSeries but they have not been helpful.

Unfortunately our software does not work with Linux and is required for the full functionality of our peripherals. I'm so sorry for the bad news!

I am probably not interested in all the config available through the software. I just would like a headset with high quality sound for music and movies.
I don't play video games anymore. I used to have a Roccat Kave on Windows and I much preferred listening to music with it.
Though it was a bit different since there was no DAC, just several 3.5 jacks to plug on a 7.1 soundcard.

Does someone here have any information regarding that kind of setup ?
I am also open to any suggestions regarding headset that provides "surround" sound and high quality audio for music and movies.

I have a good default sound card so it is not required to have an external DAC if the headset has several jack to connect to the motherboard.

I think it will be fine. Also, after reading some reviews it seems that all functionality is available from the GameDAC itself, you loose nothing by not being able to run the software.

I think it will be fine. Also, after reading some reviews it seems that all functionality is available from the GameDAC itself, you loose nothing by not being able to run the software.

Indeed, I feel stupid because it is my initial thread. Sorry about that.
I got completely lost between the steel series support ticket, reddit, Amazon and other forums and when I finally got the reply from SteelSeries, I forgot where I was with the status on everything.

I need to better organize myself when I ask for help or information.

I bought it and it is just plug and play, sound nice, perfect.
